Please check timetables in advance so you can be sure they will be running - don't assume they run every day.

The Lavender Line

The Lavender Line runs for a 2 mile round trip through the beautiful Sussex countryside between the village of Isfield and the parish of Little Horsted, near Uckfield in East Sussex (TN22 5XB). It also has volunteering opportunties
Amberley Museum & Heritage Centre

Situated at the bottom of the beautiful Sussex Downs, you'll find this centre between Arundel and Storrington, next to Amberley Railway Station. Exhibits include a narrow-gauge railway and bus service, which provide free travel around the 36 acre site. The museum is home to traditional crafts people such as stained glass makers, blacksmiths & potters, as well as picnic areas, a restaurant & gift shop. Click here for courses and here for more information

This famous little railway has given joy & fun to thousands visitors. There's also info on volunteering.
The Kent and East Sussex Railway

Here's their operating timetable.  Like any heritage railway, there are different ways to volunteer.  Here's their visitor info- you can enjoy all day hop-on, hop-off Rover fares which allow unlimited travel along the full 10 ½ miles (16.8 km) of the railway. You can stop off to explore at any station - to visit Bodiam Castle for example, or to look over the loco yard at Rolvenden.

Spa Valley Railway

The railway has heritage steam and diesel trains operating between Eridge and Tunbridge Wells. You can volunteer.  There are plenty of events (including days out with Thomas but book early for those) throughout the year.  Click here to go to their website.
South Downs Light Railway

For Little trains with a great appeal, take a look at the South Downs Light Railway.   Trains run from March to September.  The volunteer run railway is in the Pulborough Garden Centre, Stopham Road, Pulborough and trains take you on a trip through the gardens from Stopham Road Station.  Chuff chuff your way to the South Downs Light Railway website.

Littlehampton Miniature Railway Association

This little railway is staffed entirely by volunteers and celebrating 70 years in 2018, so congratulations to them :-)  It runs along the seafront between Norfolk Gardens and Mewsbrook Park. TTheir website is fascinating - do take a look.
For a day out, take a look at the Wiston Steam Rally.  It's held every couple of years and the next one will take place in July 2019.  There will be steam engines, charity trailer rides, vintage and classic vehicles, a large fairground, steam powered demos, horses and dray cart, collections, displays, food and drink, stalls and a craft tent.  Steam away for more information
Hollycombe - Steam in the Country
Situated on the Hampshire and Sussex border, Hollycombe says this is where the past comes to life...  Wonder through the woodland gardens, ride on the steam railways,  visiting the steam farm, and checking out the road steam, there's plenty to see and do.
